CWS Sliding & Patio Doors: The Westchester Owner’s Guide

We stock, match, and install CWS-compatible sliding and patio door hardware across Westchester, with most roller, lock, and handle replacements running $140 to $420 installed depending on the part and your door’s series. If you have a CWS door that sticks, drags, or won’t lock cleanly, we can usually get the right part ordered and the swap done within a few business days, and many common rollers and handles are already on our truck. Most Westchester owners discover the issue the same way: the door has been getting harder to slide for months, then one morning it takes two hands and a hip check to move it. By then, the roller assembly has usually worn through and has started scoring the track underneath.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS builds sliding and patio doors across several series lines, and the hardware is not universal between them. The most common doors we see in Westchester are the CWS 6800 and 6900 sliding glass door lines, along with the CWS Estate and Architect series multi-slide and patio doors on newer construction and remodels. The quickest way to identify what you have is to check the corner of the glass or the edge of the door panel itself. CWS typically etches the series number into a lower corner of the glass, and the frame will have a small label with a manufacturing date and series code on the vertical stile. If the label has faded, take a picture of the roller assembly from underneath. The housing shape and wheel diameter tell us a lot. When it comes to replacement parts, we stock genuine CWS hardware whenever the door is under warranty or when you want an exact factory match. For older CWS doors where OEM parts carry a 6 to 10 week lead time, we offer quality aftermarket equivalents from the same suppliers we trust for PGT and CGI doors, and we’ll be straight with you about which one makes sense for your budget and how long you plan to keep the door.

Signs Your CWS Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • It takes real muscle to open or close the door. This is almost always a collapsed or worn roller bearing. The wheel stops spinning, so it drags on the track instead of rolling, and every slide grinds a little more aluminum off the rail.
  • The door jumps or chatters mid-slide. A flat spot on the wheel or a bent roller housing makes the door skip. Left alone, the flat spot widens and the track gets chewed up, which doubles the repair cost.
  • The handle feels loose or the lock won’t catch. The internal lock mechanism uses a spring-loaded hook that wears over time. Miami humidity doesn’t help. Once the hook is rounded off, the door will feel like it’s locked when it isn’t.
  • You see a grey dust trail on the bottom track. That dust is ground-down aluminum from the track itself. By the time it’s visible, the roller wheel has usually seized and you’re sliding metal on metal.
  • Water collects near the track after hard rain. A worn weatherstrip or a door that’s sagging out of square breaks the sill seal. In Westchester’s summer downpours, that gap lets water run straight under the frame.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For CWS sliding and patio doors in Westchester, here’s what we typically see on quotes:

  • Roller assembly replacement: $140 to $280 installed for a standard two-panel door, including removing the panel, swapping both rollers, and adjusting the height so the door sits square and seals tight.
  • Handle and lock replacement: $130 to $240 installed for a CWS-compatible handle set with a new lock hook, matched to your door’s backset and mounting pattern.
  • Full hardware refresh (rollers + handle + weatherstrip): $260 to $420 installed, which is the option we recommend when a door is 10 or more years old and multiple parts are near end of life.

The range comes down to which CWS series you have, whether OEM or aftermarket parts make sense, and whether the track needs a spot repair from roller damage. Every quote we give in Westchester is a written line-item price before we start work. The price we hand you is the price on the invoice, and the work is covered by our 36500-Day Done Right Promise. If we install it and it isn’t right, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Sliding door panels are heavy, and once you lift one out of the track, getting it back in without pinching a finger or cracking a corner is trickier than it looks on video. The panel on a standard CWS 6800 series door runs 120 to 190 pounds depending on glass package, and the last thing anyone needs is a door panel on the patio concrete and a second person not home to help. What you can safely do is check the track. Run a dry cloth along the bottom rail and pull out any sand, pebbles, or leaf debris. If the track is clean and the door still drags, the roller is done, and that’s a call to us. Ed Winslow’s name is on the business, and we’d rather walk you through what’s actually wrong than sell you a part that doesn’t fix it. Call (863) 251-5864 and we’ll get you a straight answer.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."
