Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

The fastest way to identify your door: look at the edge of the sliding panel near the lock stile. ECO stamps their series code there, typically EC-200, EC-300, or EC-500. The EC-500 is the one to watch for in Westchester, it takes a heavier roller rated for impact-rated laminated glass, which adds roughly three pounds per square foot to the panel weight. Signs Your ECO Window Systems Sliding & Patio Door Is Failing

• The door sounds like it’s dragging a bag of screws. That’s a roller bearing that has gone flat on one side. ECO doors sit on two rollers in the bottom track, and once one bearing seizes, the other carries double weight and follows within a month.
• You have to lift the door or rock it to get it moving. This is usually the roller housing itself wearing through the track contact point. In Westchester homes with carpet or tile floor transitions, the buildup of grit from shoes accelerates it.
• The latch doesn’t fully engage, or it engages but doesn’t stay. ECO latch hardware uses a spring-loaded hook that corrodes from the salt air working in through the handle cutout. The surface looks rough, the spring loses throw distance, and before long the door won’t stay closed even when you hear it click.
• A black streak marks the track where the wheel rides. That’s not dirt. It’s the nylon roller wheel grinding itself smooth. Once you see the streak, the wheel is already out of round and the door is riding on the housing.
• The door jumps out of the track at one end. Classic Westchester symptom. Evening heat on the west-facing side of a home expands the aluminum frame at a different rate than the interior track. A worn bottom roller doesn’t have enough lip to hold the panel, so the door pops out at the point of greatest expansion.
