Mr-Glass Door Installation: The Westchester Owner’s Guide

Mr-Glass door installation in Westchester typically runs from $275 to $640 for the roller, hinge, or latch hardware swap, and most jobs are finished the same afternoon we arrive. The part fails gradually, so you usually notice it first as a door that drags, catches, or sounds like gravel grinding when you slide it. We stock the common Mr-Glass door hardware on our trucks, which means we’re usually in and out of your Westchester home in under two hours, including cleanup.

Winslow Windows & Doors is an independent installer and repair shop. We are not affiliated with Mr-Glass, but we’ve been fitting their doors in Westchester long enough to know exactly which parts wear first, why they wear, and what should be replaced now before something else breaks downstream.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Most Mr-Glass residential doors in Westchester fall into two camps: sliding glass doors and hinged impact-rated entry doors. The sliding models use a roller and track system with stainless-steel wheel housings, and the rollers are size-specific, usually 1-1/4″ or 1-1/2″ diameter, depending on frame depth. The hinged doors use adjustable three-hinge sets with ball-bearing pivots, plus a multi-point latch that ties into the door’s impact rating.

The practical way to identify yours is to check the corner of the glass for the Mr-Glass etching, then look at the door edge near the latch for a manufacturer sticker with the series number. If the sticker is gone (South Florida humidity peels those off in a few years), we measure the roller diameter on-site and match it to the frame depth. One Westchester-specific gotcha we see often: homes built before 2002 near Bird Road sometimes have first-generation Mr-Glass frames that are 1/8″ shallower than current production. If someone slaps a standard replacement roller into those, the door rides high and chews the top track. We keep a caliper on the truck for exactly this reason.

OEM Mr-Glass hardware is always an option, but for rollers, hinges, and latches, we carry quality aftermarket equivalents that meet or beat the original spec, often at 30-40% less. We’ll show you both options and let you decide. No pressure either way.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Door Installation Is Failing

  • Door drags or requires a shoulder to open. This is almost always a roller problem. The bearings dry out, the wheel stops spinning, and the door skids instead of rolling. Left alone, the wheel carves a flat spot and the track gets scored.
  • Grinding or squealing when sliding. Dried ball bearings inside the roller housing. Once they start making noise, the housing is usually already ovaled out, so lubricating buys you weeks, not months.
  • Door won’t latch without lifting or jiggling the handle. The multi-point latch rods have worn or the striker plate shifted. On impact-rated Mr-Glass doors, a latch that doesn’t fully engage means the door isn’t doing its wind-rated job anymore.
  • Visible sag at the top corner, away from the hinge side. Hinge play or a bent hinge leaf. On older Westchester homes where the slab has settled slightly, the door frame may also be out of square, which accelerates hinge wear.
  • Drafts or daylight visible around the door perimeter. Worn weatherstripping or a door slightly out of plane. The bigger issue is that an out-of-plane door means the latch hardware is fighting the frame every time you close it, and that fight is what kills Mr-Glass latch assemblies early.

If you’re seeing two or more of these, the repair is cheaper now than it will be in six months. Call us at (863) 251-5864 and we’ll tell you what you’re looking at.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Westchester, Mr-Glass door installation pricing breaks down like this:

  • Roller replacement (both door panels, 4 rollers): $180 – $320 installed
  • Hinge replacement (single hinged door): $120 – $260 installed
  • Multi-point latch replacement: $225 – $400 installed
  • Track or threshold repair: $150 – $350 installed
  • Full hardware refresh (rollers, hinges, latch, weatherstripping): $275 – $640 installed

Every quote includes the parts, the labor, the time to adjust the door so it opens and closes like it should, and cleanup. We hand you a line-item price before any work starts, and that’s the number on the invoice. If the repair runs over $200, take $40 off, which is a standing offer we’ve had for years, not a seasonal promotion. The work is backed by the 36500-Day Done Right Promise: if it isn’t right, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a couple of things any Westchester homeowner can safely check. Close the door and look at the gap between the door edge and the frame from top to bottom. If it’s tight at the top and wide at the bottom, the hinges or rollers are your culprit. Clean the bottom track with a vacuum and a rag, because sand and grit from driveways off the Palmetto accelerate roller wear faster than anything else in our climate. Check the handle screws for looseness. Those are safe, useful diagnostics.

But when it comes to swapping Mr-Glass rollers, hinges, or multi-point latches, we’d rather you didn’t learn why these doors weigh what they weigh by accident. A full-glass sliding panel can exceed 150 pounds, and if it tips when the rollers come out, it’s not your afternoon that’s ruined. The latch on an impact door is tied into the door’s structural rating, and if it’s installed wrong, the door looks fine and performs like a screen door in a storm. That’s what we’re here for. What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."
