ViewLux Window Replacement: The Westchester Owner’s Guide

If you own a ViewLux window in Westchester and a sash, balance, roller, or latch has failed, we stock common ViewLux replacement parts on our trucks and install them the same day in most cases. Installed replacement work on ViewLux windows in Westchester typically runs $140-$385 per window depending on the part, how many sashes are involved, and whether we’re replacing hardware only or the full sash assembly. The way most Westchester homeowners discover a failing ViewLux part is simple: the window won’t stay up, won’t lock, or suddenly takes two hands and a knee to slide open.

ViewLux windows are solid mid-range aluminum and vinyl products, popular across Westchester’s older ranch homes and post-2000 builds. But South Florida humidity, salt air, and daily sun exposure work on every moving part. We see it constantly: a balance cartridge that’s lost tension, a roller that’s flattened after years of sand and grit in the track, a cam latch that snapped because somebody forced a swollen frame. The window itself is usually fine. The hardware underneath it is what gives out. That’s what we replace.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux has produced several window lines over the years, and the replacement part you need depends on which series you have. We work on all of them. The most common ViewLux windows we service in Westchester are the single-hung and horizontal slider series, followed by their impact-rated versions that became popular after Florida’s building code tightened in the early 2000s. If your window has a small metallic label or etching on the frame, that’s your key: it will show the series name and often the manufacturing date. No label? We can still identify the part by measuring the sash, checking the balance shoe profile, and looking at the roller housing dimensions.

Here’s the gotcha most people don’t know: ViewLux changed balance shoe and roller specs between production runs, even within the same series name. A balance from a 2009 single-hung won’t always fit a 2016 model that looks identical from the outside. That’s why we carry multiple ViewLux-compatible part variations on the truck and verify measurements before we start. We install OEM ViewLux parts when they’re available and practical to source. When OEM lead times stretch out or the original part was a known weak point, we use quality aftermarket equivalents that match or exceed the original spec. Either way, you’ll know before we order anything, and the price doesn’t change once we quote it.

Signs Your ViewLux Window Replacement Is Failing

  • The window drops when you let go. This is the classic balance failure. The spring or block-and-tackle assembly inside the side jamb has lost tension. In Westchester’s humidity, the internal coil can rust and snap, especially on windows facing east where morning sun bakes the frame.
  • The sash is hard to slide or makes a grinding noise. Rollers flatten and bearings corrode. We see this most on Westchester homes near major roads like Bird Road or the Palmetto, where fine dust and sand work into the track and chew up the roller wheels over time.
  • The window won’t lock or the latch feels loose. Cam locks and sweep latches are small cast parts. A few seasons of salt air and they get brittle. One good pull on a swollen sash and the latch snaps.
  • There’s visible wear on the track or the sash tilts in the frame. When a balance fails on one side, the sash cocks. Left alone, that crooked sliding wears the track, chews the pile weatherstrip, and can crack the frame corner.
  • Air, water, or daylight is coming through the closed window. Failed hardware lets the sash drop out of proper compression against the weatherstripping. The window itself may not be the problem; the part holding it tight is what failed.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we quote in Westchester, with real numbers:

  • Balance replacement (single sash): $140-$210 installed
  • Roller replacement (both sashes): $120-$190 installed
  • Cam latch or sweep latch replacement: $85-$140 installed
  • Full sash hardware rebuild (balances, rollers, latch, weatherstrip): $275-$385 installed
  • Full sash assembly replacement: quoted on site after measurements; typically $300-$600 installed

Every quote includes the part, the labor, disposal of the old hardware, and a final check that the window opens, closes, locks, and seals properly. The range depends on whether we’re working on a standard-size sash or a wide custom unit, and whether the failure damaged anything else. We give you the price upfront, in writing, before we touch the window. What we quote is what you pay. Ed Winslow’s name has been on this business since 2011, and our 36500-Day Done Right Promise is simple: if it’s not done right, we come back and make it right. No charge, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for the series label on the frame, note which side of the window is sticking, and check if the track is visibly clogged with dirt. That information helps the conversation. What we don’t recommend is pulling apart the sash yourself. ViewLux balance cartridges are under tension, and a loaded balance that releases during an amateur disassembly can take a chunk out of your hand or crack the glass on the way out. We’ve repaired the aftermath of that exact scenario in Westchester more than once. The part costs less than the hospital visit, and the window comes apart and goes back together faster when someone’s done it a few hundred times.

If your ViewLux window is fighting you, call (863) 251-5864. Ed or one of our team will answer, ask you what the window is doing, and tell you honestly whether it sounds like a quick fix or a full replacement. Estimates are free, and we’re not going to sell you a whole window when a $35 part is what actually failed.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."
